Adding a Custom TTL

How to set a custom TTL value on a DNS record in NameBright, and why a shorter TTL matters before a planned change.

TTL (time to live) controls how long resolvers cache a DNS record before checking for updates. NameBright defaults new records to 3600 seconds (one hour).

TTL Use case
300s (5 min) Right before a planned change, so the cutover is fast
3600s (1 hr) Normal day-to-day use
86400s (24 hr) Stable records you rarely touch

To change it, open the record in the DNS manager, edit the TTL field, and save. Lower the TTL at least a day before a planned change, make the change, then raise it back once you've confirmed everything resolved correctly.
